The Ambling BookPlayer is a specialized audiobook player designed to make audiobook listening easy, frustration-free and uncomplicated for everyone. The player does this using a combination of unique features described below to enhance your audiobook listening experience.
The Ambling BookPlayer runs on mobile phones as well as media player devices. It is now available through the Android Market for all Google Android devices and mobile phones. Support for additional mobile phones and media player devices is coming soon.
The Ambling BookPlayer makes audiobooks become seamless. Its automatic audio file handling feature does this by hiding all the individual audio files that make up the audiobook so that you never have to deal with the audio files.
You never have to remember which audio file you were last listening to in an audiobook. The Ambling BookPlayer does it for you.
The Ambling BookPlayer handles all the details of audio file download, organization, and sequencing. You never have to know about or deal with the audio files directly. The audiobook may consist of a single audio file or hundreds of audio files.
Regardless of the size or number of audio files, the Ambling BookPlayer hides all the details of audio file management, so that you never have to deal with or even know about the individual audio files that make up the audiobook.
The player presents an audiobook as a sequence of chapters. You can jump directly to any chapter in the book. Chapter positions do not need to have any direct relationship with the audio files. Multiple chapters per audio file are supported, as well as chapters which span audio files, or any combination of these.
Buttons are available to jump to the next chapter or return to the previous chapter, as well as a button that allows you to view a list of all chapters with full titles, and jump directly to any chapter.
A book progress slider bar and a chapter progress slider bar show you at all times where you are in the book and in the chapter. Either one of these slider bars can be used to change positions in the audiobook.
The play history feature assures that you will never deal with the frustration of losing your place in an audiobook, and then have to painstakingly search through the audiobook trying to find your place again.
The Ambling BookPlayer Personal and Pro editions automatically track and record the last 100 locations in the audiobook where you have started or stopped listening. The Ambling BookPlayer Lite edition automatically tracks and records the last 5 locations in the audiobook where you have started or stopped listening. The date and time when you were listening as well as your position in the book and chapter are saved in the history.
The play history is tracked separately for each of your audiobooks.
A history button allows you to see the entire play history ordered by the date and time when you were listening, and you can jump directly to any previous listening position.
Undo and redo buttons allow you to quickly move back and forth between previous locations where you were listening. With a single button press you can always go back to your previous location.
The time navigation features makes it very convenient to jump back and re-listen to a favorite or important section a second time, or to quickly go back to replay parts of the audiobook that you missed because of a distraction while you were listening.
One touch buttons are available to jump backward 15 seconds or 1 minute or jump forward 15 seconds or 1 minute from the current listening position.
It is very simple to jump back and re-listen to recent parts of the audiobook, or to skip forward in the audiobook, while still knowing with accuracy where you are relative to your previous listening position.
The Ambling BookPlayer Pro edition allows you to create your own bookmark locations and add your personal notes about the book marked content. A button allows you to see a list of all your book marked locations with your notes, and go directly to any of these locations.
The Ambling BookPlayer Pro edition presents the list of books in the library with the books collapsed by series. When you the select the series name the player then shows you all the books in that series presented in the proper series sequence (not alphabetically).
The player supports book lists that are a hierarchy of series for cases where a series contains another series of books. This can be nested as deeply as needed. One example of this is the Middle Earth books which include The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The Lord of the Ring is itself a trilogy. A second example is the Bible which includes the Old Testament and the New Testament, where each of these is composed of many additional books.
All editions of the Ambling BookPlayer support listing your audiobooks alphabetically. You see an audiobook list rather than an audio file list, as is often presented by other media players. An audiobook list presents a better organized view of your audiobook library than a list of all the audio files, especially when some audiobooks consist of many audio files.
All editions of the Ambling BookPlayer support downloading and playing both free and purchased audiobooks from the internet by simply clicking on the audiobook name.
You just select the audiobook you want to listen to and the Ambling BookPlayer takes care of all the rest. It makes it easy to both get audiobooks and listen to audiobooks anytime and anywhere.
Some of the features which make the Ambling BookPlayer so easy and simple to use require extra information about the book, including chapter names, chapter locations, audio files details, and series information. This information is all provided for you automatically when you download books from the internet.
All versions of the Ambling BookPlayer allow you to see detailed progress information about the state of your audiobook downloads. Audio files can be very large, and the Ambling BookPlayer allows you to specify whether it should download audio files over phone data networks, or only over Wi-Fi networks.
For Wi-Fi network downloads, the player will automatically stop and restart downloading when your mobile phone connects and disconnects from Wi-Fi networks.
The player also automatically supports resuming the download of audio files that have been previously partially downloaded.
The Ambling BookPlayer Personal and Pro editions allow you to easily add the audio files for audiobooks that you already own and organize them into an seamless audiobook. The Ambling BookPlayer Personal and Pro editions also let you enter the chapter title information for audiobooks that you already own.
The Ambling BookPlayer Pro edition lets you create and save, as well as read, book description files that contain all of the audio file and chapter information for your audiobooks.
