1) Start on the audiobook library screen
2) Press the shopping cart button at the top left of the screen or press the MENU button and select “Add Book From Internet”
3) On the download menu screen select the "My Bookshelf" entry to view books you have placed on your bookshelf, or you can browse to find books you want to download. The first time you go to the download screen you will be prompted to enter your AmblingBooks.com username and password. The player will create an access token so that you won't need to enter these again. If you skip the login then the "My Bookshelf" entry will not appear in the main menu.
4) Select the book that you would like to download and click on the "Download book" button.

At this point the selected book should now be shown on the audiobook library screen, and there should be an icon in the notification bar showing that the download manager is active.

You can return to the library screen by pressing the button shown in the top left corner of the screen.

If you pull down the notification bar you can select the entry for “Audiobook download in progress” to be taken to the download status screen

Or, you can click on the name of the audiobook in the library list to be taken to the summary screen for the audiobook. The summary screen will show you details about the book, including showing how many of the audio files have been downloaded. If the book is still being downloaded the book summary screen will have a "Download details" button which you can also use to view the download status screen.

At soon as the first audio file in the book has been downloaded you will be able to press the "Play" button from either the download status screen or the book summary screen to start listening to the book.

We are working hard to finish the functionality to get the amblingbooks.com web site fully online. When this web site comes online it will allow anyone to link to additional public domain audiobooks on the internet so that the audiobooks can easily be downloaded to the Ambling BookPlayer. One person will need to enter the list of audio files and the book and chapter info, but then everyone will be able to download and enjoy the audiobook.

If you are an audiobook author or publisher the site will also allow you to publish and sell your audiobook.

Both free and pay audiobooks will be available on the web site and they will all be easy to download to the Ambling BookPlayer.

We will be providing a search function in the Ambling BookPlayer and also on the web site.

You will also be able to use your browser to find audiobooks you like and then put them on your personal bookshelf. Your bookshelf will make it easy to remember and download audiobooks you want to listen to anytime you want.

The Book Summary Screen now also includes a "Download Details" button which will be displayed if the audiobook is currently being downloaded.

Pressing the "Download Details" button will take you to the same download status screen that you can also get to by pulling down the notification list and selecting the "Audiobook download in progress" item from the notification menu.

You need to install the Ambling BookPlayer for Windows before you click the button to download the book. If you have not installed the player then Windows does not know what to do with the xml file that has the book information.

Several users have had problems downloading books using the Ambling BookPlayer for Windows. We have tracked this down to an issue with their Windows computer having an old version of Java installed.

Please make sure that you have Java 1.6 or higher installed on your Windows computer before installing the Ambling BookPlayer for Windows.
