automatic pause for ANY other audio interuption, especially NAVIGATION

Love the auto pausing for phone calls! Not quite sure if it is pausing for email alerts since they are so short. Would like (option?) it to pause for NAVIGATION (DROID) audio interruptions.

This is a very good suggestion which I think would be useful for many people that listen while driving.

Implementing this feature requires that both the Google Maps application and the Ambling BookPlayer application cooperate to identify when audible navigation instructions are being given.

I have been checking on this, but so far it does not appear that the Google Maps application provides the necessary notifications which the Ambling BookPlayer could use to provide this functionality. I have put in a request that the necessary support be added to Google Maps, and I hope that the Google Maps developers will add the needed support on their side. So far I haven't heard anything back from them.

I use the mapquest app. It knows to override the ipod function on my iphone, would it be possible to work with them to do the same with this app?

Android 2.2 (Froyo) has added a new audio focus API which can notify the audiobook player that another application would like to temporarily play an audio message. We have implemented support for this which will be included in the Ambling BookPlayer v2.02 release.

For devices running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher the audiobook player can now pause while the transient audio message is played and will when resume playback of the audiobook after the interruption has completed.

We have released the Ambling BookPlayer v2.02 which supports the new Froyo audio focus system.

For users with Froyo devices the player will now pause the audiobook when another audio interruption is about to occur (such as Google Maps giving navigation instructions) and then when the audio interruption has finished it will resume playing the audiobook again.

The player will resume 2.5 seconds prior to the point where the audio interruption occurred so that you can pick up the story before it was interrupted.
