It is very hard for me to get the pause/play button to give the desired result. It is very sensitive to the length of time the button is pushed, but it shouldn't be.

We have changed the code so that the Bluetooth pause/play button will now be limited by the same repeat frequency configuration setting that the Bluetooth forward and backward buttons are currently limited by. The default setting is once per second, so it will only act on the pause/play button signal once per second. This change will be included in the v1.11 update that we will release next week.

Why not just hardcode a sufficient delay for that button? Maybe 1.5 seconds?

I am unable to test with all the different Bluetooth headsets and in car stereos that are available, and I cannot confirm that 1.5 seconds is the correct value for all of these devices.

Apparently on some headsets like yours all of the Bluetooth media buttons have this same issue of sending the button signal repeatedly which is indistinguishable from actual separate button presses.

This seems to be the same issue that occurs on other headsets with the forward and reverse buttons. This rapid unwanted repeating is the reason that the repeat frequency limit configuration setting was added to the player in the first place. However the headsets we tested with did not have the problem that your headset does with the pause/play key repeating, so we didn't add the repeat frequency limiter to the play/pause button. Thanks for reporting the issue with the headset you use. We have now added the code to limit the repeat frequency on the play/pause button which should fix the issue you are seeing as soon as we release our next update..

Making the allowed repeat rate configurable will allow users to adjust it if needed for the behavior of the Bluetooth device that they are using.

People that have the HTC Hero phone have not been able to use the Bluetooth buttons with any other player because of the way HTC intercepted all the Bluetooth signals in the HTC music player.

Now it looks like someone has provided an application you can load on the HTC Hero to resolve this problem.
