Delete titles in phone without deleting your library

I have too many books in my phone now, having listened to many, my book list looks more like my contacts list, where I have to scroll through
many titles to see what is next on my list. Is there any way to delete from my phone, but still retain them if later I wanted to download and
listen to them again?

You can delete the books from your phone to make room for more books.

Books which you have purchase are normally available for you to download again if needed. However keeping a backup on a computer is always a good practice.
