Default Read / Use more tag info

I've recently updated my audiobook library by fixing the various tags to indicate title, author, part of the series, cover art and in some cases narrator.

I did this all with MediaMonkey on the PC and they're read by iTunes on my Mac and iPods so I'm sure the info is embedded in the files and can be read by more than one platform. The books are in M4B format, as they have no DRM I rename them to M4A for platforms or apps that don't play M4B

What I'm hoping for is for Ambling BookPlayer to use more of the embedded info rather than requiring me to re-enter the info and art into the XML files. Alternatively I'd like to be able to at least view the tag info.

I'm sure others would do it differently, but here's the tags and how I use them:

Title: Title for the file. If a multi-part book then it's 'Book Part 1", "Book Part 2"...
    Artist: Author
Album Artist: Author (The distinction is really only important for anthologies or multi-author books )
Album: The title for the book w/o the "part" info. I also added series info in an attempt to have it show up, such as "HP and the Philosopher's Stone (HP1)"
    Composer: Narrator
    Comments: Various comments
Disc #: # of book in a series
Track #: # of the part within the book.
Album Art: Cover art for the book.

I wouldn't expect any app to figure out my scheme, but by embedding the info in the file I don't rely on a separate database. What would be nice if the the player could do is:

-- Use the embedded cover art
-- Let me at least read the various tags to sort things out on my own.

    Thanks

When you add a new book, the player does read the ID3 tags and use the names to pre-fill the information in the Book Name, Author Name, and Narrator Name fields and the dropdown selection list for each of those fields.

The player does fill in the initial Book Name value using the Album tag, and the initial Author Name value using the Artist tag. For the Narrator some earlier versions of the player also filled this in from the Artist tag, but latter version of the player do not fill in an initial value for the Narrator Name as we found that there did not appear to be any standard pattern for where the Narrator Name was stored.

There is a MENU option to read the disk and track number ID3 tags and resort the listing of the files in the directory based on these tags.

The player does not currently read cover art images that are embedded in the audio files. We have this functionality on our list of new features that we want to add, and it will be available in one of our upcoming releases.
